Beyond The Classroom
Each grade level is filled with engaging activities and curriculum-expanding field trips which allow our students to connect the importance of classroom learning with the world around them. Our fourth through sixth graders travel to other cities and even states to continue their learning. The Wesley Prep experience culminates in a sixth grade trip to Southern California where they head out on the open seas and return with confidence as the life-long learners they have become. For our younger students, we bring the engaging experiences to campus; our older students venture off campus for their field trips.
Here are some of the real-life experiences our students enjoy:
Kindergarteners participate in multiple "in-house" field trips, including visits from High Touch High Tech, the Dallas Zoo, and/or The Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
Primer students visit the Dallas Children's Aquarium at the completion of their unit on ocean animals and habitats.
First - Third Graders venture off campus for field trips in the DFW area, for example - Dallas Children's Theater, SPARK Adventures in Creativity, The Perot Museum of Nature & Science, Target shopping for a Salvation Angel Tree Outreach Project, Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Ft Worth Engraving, and iFly Indoor Skydiving Center.
Fourth Graders culminate a year's study of Texas History by visiting historical sites in San Antonio and Austin.
Fifth Graders travel to Camp Classen in Oklahoma for five days to conduct experiments on life and water cycles, ecology, and habitat, while building teamwork skills in a camp environment.
Sixth Graders travel to Southern California to investigate hands-on marine science, robotics, and maritime history programs at the Ocean Institute, tour the Getty Villa and Universal Studios.
